City of Charlotte Civic Leadership Academy Application

Please fill out the following application in full. All Academy participants must reside in the City of Charlotte. Applications must be received no later than July 26, 2019.

Please note: You must be a resident of the City of Charlotte to participate in the Civic Leadership Academy.  

The session schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, September 5 – Making Charlotte a Winning City, 6pm-9pm
  • Saturday, September 7 – Purposeful Leadership I, 9:30am-4:30pm
  • Saturday, September 14 – Telling Our Stories
  • Wednesday, September 18 -- Charlotte Government 101, 6pm-9pm
  • Thursday, September 26—Housing, 6pm-9pm
  • Saturday, October 5 – Environment, 10am-4pm
  • Tuesday, October 8 – Transportation, 6pm-9pm
  • Thursday, October 10—Economic Development, 5pm-9pm
  • Saturday, October 12 – Community Safety, 10am-4:00pm
  • Wednesday, October 16 – Planning, 5:30-9pm
  • Wednesday, October 23 – City Decisions Making & Investments, 6-9pm
  • Wednesday, TBD – Purposeful Leadership II, 6pm-9pm
  • Wednesday, TBD– Graduation, 6pm-8pm

Before applying, please check all dates on your calendar.  Participants may miss up to 3 sessions.  Saturdays count as 2 sessions.

The purpose of Civic Leadership Academy is to develop leaders who will take responsibility for using their leadership skills and knowledge to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods and in Charlotte.

Media/Photo Release Photographs may be taken during Civic Leadership Academy classes. The City of Charlotte may use these photos in printed and electronic materials, including, but not limited to, brochures, power point presentations, website and newsletters.
